Soaib Grewal, CEO
Soaib is committed to using design and reverse innovation to resolve resource constraint issues resulting from rapid urbanization, including water scarcity issues in urban slums. Throughout 2010 he inventoried a range of water purification technologies, assessing strengths, limitations, and capacity for local implementation. In mid-2011 Soaib relocated to India to take over as CEO. He currently oversees business model development and implementation as well as design based projects in the Research and Innovation Lab. He is also responsible for local capacity building and day to day operations of the organization. Soaib holds a Bachelors in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
Jennifer O’Brien, CDO
Jennifer O’Brien is committed to developing inclusive business models that address public health challenges in urban slums. She has worked in slums in India for more than four years and was involved with a multi-year, forensic investigation of slum water systems in Mumbai. In 2010 she joined WaterWalla’s Board of Advisors, and in 2012 she relocated to Mumbai to take over as CDO. She oversees aspects of fundraising, business development, and impact and evaluation systems. She also concentrates on building relationships with key players in the public and private sector, to form the partnerships required to further the WaterWalla mission. Jennifer holds a BA in Neuroscience and a Certificate in Health Policy from Harvard University, and an MPhil in Public Health from the University of Cambridge.
