Over 800 million slum residents worldwide have limited or no access to clean drinking water, causing high rates of child disease and other health and economic issues.
WaterWalla identifies and recruits influential slum residents to be local entrepreneurs and provides them with mentoring, education, start-up funding, and necessary tools to start their own shops in the hearts of their own slums. These 'WaterWallas' then work to grow their business and prosper bringing water sanitation technologies to their homes in the process. WaterWalla is creating a premier health and sanitation network to inform, educate and support the well-being of slum residents.
Your gift will fund our on-the-ground expenses in slums, which includes the provision of affordable point-of-use sanitation technologies to our micro-entrepreneurs, the employment of local supervisors to monitor operations, and our community-wide educational campaign.
